Texas Right to Life PAC endorses Phillip Huffines in race for Senate District 8

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Texas Right to Life PAC endorses Phillip Huffines in race for Senate District 8

Houston, Texas—February 13, 2018: Last night, Texas Right to Life released a video announcing Texas Right to Life PAC’s endorsement of Phillip Huffines in the race for Senate District 8. Texas Right to Life Director Elizabeth Graham and Texas Right to Life President Jim Graham hosted a round-table discussion with Phillip on video about his views, his values, and his campaign in which the endorsement was issued. Elizabeth Graham described Huffines as a “life-long conservative, Republican, Pro-Life activist.” Senate District 8 is a strong Pro-Life area of the state that includes parts of Collin and Dallas County.

In the video announcing his endorsement, Huffines said, “[T]he role of government is to protect Life and to preserve our liberties and to foster opportunities for families and their children.” Huffines noted that he proudly shares the mission and goals of Texas Right to Life, noting that he wants to stop, “one baby dying in a Texas abortion clinic every ten minutes… Although other conservative issues are important, nothing is more important than saving lives.” Phillip expressed that he is looking forward to building on the recent successes in the Texas Senate of protecting Life, such as defunding the abortion industry, the Ban on Dismemberment Abortion, the Sonogram Law, and other Pro-Life measures. Phillip also hopes to make adoption less bureaucratic and more affordable.

A fifth-generation Texan, Phillip began his political activism in high school and has consistently continued helping and financially supporting conservative, Pro-Life local and statewide candidates up until he filed to run for Texas Senate. Phillip wants to be held accountable by the constituents of Senate District 8 and looks forward to representing their values.

Phillip started his very first business in Senate District 8, and his roots there have grown deeper throughout his life. Phillip remains one of the principals in the 94-year old Huffines Family automobile business, creating jobs and economic prosperity for 800 employees. Additionally, through his real estate land development company, Phillip has helped engender stability for those who reside in the communities built by the Huffines.

Texas Right to Life is proud to stand with Phillip Huffines. He is a strong and committed Pro-Life candidate, community leader, and family man. Phillip’s entrepreneurial instincts, business expertise, and community omnipresence equip him well to meet the challenges of advancing the causes of Life and Liberty in Austin. Phillip and Holly, his wife of 31 years, are the proud parents of three grown children and members of First United Methodist Church located in Senate District 8.
