Texas Right to Life PAC endorses Armin Mizani

The Political Action Committee for Texas Right to Life, the oldest and largest statewide Pro-Life organization in Texas, announced their endorsement of Armin Mizani for House District 98.  Mizani, a current member of the city council in Keller, is challenging incumbent Giovanni Capriglione in the upcoming March Primary Election.

Armin has seen firsthand how a progressive agenda impacts the everyday lives of real people.  Mizani pledges to protect Texas families and their children from assaults on their faith and their freedoms.  “Armin recognizes that human Life begins at fertilization and must be protected until natural death, and he will work with Texas Right to Life to enact robust legislation that reflects our shared goals,” said Elizabeth Graham, Director of Texas Right to Life.

Capriglione was once an uncompromising Pro-Lifer who shared the mission of Texas Right to Life, and we are saddened that his commitment to the Pro-Life cause has decreased while his fidelity to House leadership has increased.  Throughout the past two sessions of the Texas Legislature, Capriglione has moved away from the values voters and grassroots supporters who first elected him to the Texas House and moved too close to the liberal leadership of the Texas House.

“In fact, we were proud to help Capriglione win his primary election in 2012.  However, Capriglione has fallen short of our high expectations of him,” lamented Graham.  Capriglione played the game of liberal House Leadership by pushing anemic Pro-Life bills in lieu of life-saving bills in order to claim nominal Pro-Life victories on which to campaign for re-election.  Regrettably, Capriglione was even involved in the death of his own bill, House Bill 2962.  Once that bill was strengthened in the Senate with Pro-Life amendments, Capriglione collaborated to let the leadership of the Texas House kill the bill.

Many Pro-Life members of the Texas House have successfully navigated pressure from House leadership without compromising their Pro-Life values.  Instead of taking that route, Capriglione’s willingness to abandon a strong Pro-Life agenda renders him ineligible for endorsement.

Therefore, Texas Right to Life Political Action Committee proudly supports Armin Mizani, who has pledged to reject being wooed by the Austin Establishment.
