Wendy Davis realigns herself with unruly mob

Texas gubernatorial candidate Wendy Davis celebrated her rise to infamy by holding a party in downtown Austin on the one-year anniversary of her failed attempt to filibuster Pro-Life, pro-woman legislation.

In attendance were several legislators who ardently advocate for abortion. Kirk Watson and Lieutenant Governor candidate Leticia Van de Putte, who both helped provoke the unruly mob from the senate floor last year, made appearances. Senfronia Thompson, the state representative who wore a coat hanger pin on her lapel during the HB 2 proceedings, was joined by Cecile Richards, president of Planned Parenthood Federation of America.

While Davis’ campaign had to give away tickets to the event for free, 1,600 people filled the Austin Convention Center to hear Davis purposefully avoid using the word abortion. She instead spoke about women’s “personal decisions.” The only time Davis spoke directly about abortion was to criticize Attorney General Greg Abbott’s stance against abortion in cases of rape and incest.

Since beginning her campaign last fall, Davis has been careful to avoid talking about abortion in the press and seemed to be distancing herself from the Satan-worshipping mob that flooded the Capitol last summer. Knowing abortion is not a winning issue in Texas, she has even gone as far as to call herself Pro-Life. However, with new polls showing she trails Abbott by double digits ahead of the November elections, Davis now trying to realign herself with and dredge up support from the rabid abortion supporters throughout the state and across the country.

Apparently, hosting a pep rally to commemorate an unsuccessful filibuster to support her failing campaign is Davis’ way of doing that.
