Representative John Smithee Faithfully Stands for Life
Some Republicans claim to be Pro-Life but fail to follow through in their actions and votes.
State Representative John Smithee in the Panhandle is a strong Pro-Life leader in the Texas House.
He has faithfully championed the issue of protecting innocent human Life yet never sought the spotlight for himself.
In fact, did you know you can thank Representative Smithee that you’re not forced to fund abortions through your health insurance in Texas?
Democrats ruthlessly attacked Smithee as the House voted on his bill to stop private and government insurance plans from covering others’ abortions.
Opponents argued that some children should be aborted if they’re sick, but Smithee responded in the best way:
“I have a four-year-old living, breathing granddaughter who had a severe fetal abnormality, and I couldn’t look at her, I mean I could not face her face-to-face if I supported this, because had we provided insurance coverage, or whatever, her life could have been terminated and she would have never gotten a chance to live. She is a sweet little girl.”
Without Smithee’s faithful leadership in the Texas Capitol, Texans would still have to pay for others’ abortions through their health insurance and tax dollars.
Smithee is a tried and true servant in your community and is widely recognized as one of the most honest, humble, and virtuous lawmakers in the entire Texas Legislature.
Because of his commitment to a certain way of representing his district, in the past he has foregone co-authoring Pro-Life legislation. This has kept him from receiving a high score on the Pro-Life Scorecard. However, conservatives in the Panhandle can have absolute confidence that Representative John Smithee is a proven and faithful Pro-Life leader at home and in the Capitol.
