Governor Perry, Pro-Life stalwart, out of Presidential race

Governor Rick Perry announced this morning in South Carolina that he is withdrawing from the 2012 Presidential race.

Elizabeth Graham, Director of Texas Right to Life, comments on his decision:

“We are disappointed that Pro-Life champ Governor Rick Perry has withdrawn from the presidential race.  We can only hope that the nominee who will challenge the current president shares Governor Perry’s deep understanding of the culture war and Governor Perry’s sense of urgency about the need to protect innocent human life at all stages.  We hope that the other candidates look to Governor Perry to model his Pro-Life actions and convictions.”

Governor Perry is a proven Pro-Life leader and, among his most recent successes, was essential to passing Texas’ landmark Sonogram Law and signing a budget that drastically cut funding to the Texas abortion industry.

Texas Right to Life has had a long and fruitful relationship with Governor Perry, and we look forward to working with him again during the 2013 legislative session.
