She’s a woman. She’s influential. She was the CEO of Hewlett-Packard. And she vociferously insists that women deserve choice. Oh, and: she’s Pro-Life.
According to the Wall Street Journal, Carly Fiorina will announce her campaign to run for President of the United States on the GOP ticket. Fiorina has run for but never held elected public office. Although lacking the name recognition of candidates like Ted Cruz and Marco Rubio, Fiorina has a singular advantage over every other announced and upcoming GOP hopeful: she is a woman. This fact alone equips her to scoop up many voters who may have favored Hillary Clinton on no other grounds than her sex. With Fiorina on the presidential ballot, the “historic” angle of Clinton’s campaign – which is arguably Clinton’s most notable selling point – would be neutralized.
Commenting on Clinton’s campaign, Pro-Life advocate Star Parker noted that Hillary’s rap sheet is cause for intense alarm: “an alleged feminist who built her career by staying married to a life-long adulterer because he was successful; the storming of our embassy and murder of our ambassador in Benghazi, Libya under her watch as Secretary of State; her use of a private email account for official State Department business and then erasing it all.” But the most important reason voters should forego another Clinton presidency is so that we can begin to,“push back on government, increase personal freedom, and promote traditional family values.”
Last month, Fiorina wrote about her Pro-Life stance for the highly-reputable Susan B. Anthony List, irrefutably stating the pro-woman nature of the Pro-Life worldview (emphasis added):
Unfortunately, women are faced with this [abortion] decision every day. These women deserve our empathy, support, and never our judgment or condemnation. They deserve options, ones that are available now more than ever due to advances in modern medicine. Science supports those of us that believe in the sanctity of life.
Fiorina’s blog post at the Susan B. Anthony List expressed support for the Pain Capable Unborn Child Protection Act (a life-saving federal measure that wasderailed by rogue Republican “pro-lifer,” Renee Ellmers). Fiorina wrote:
At 20 weeks, or five months into a pregnancy, an unborn child feels pain. At 20 weeks of life, an unborn child can suck his thumb, yawn, stretch, and make faces. An unborn child at 20 weeks IS a human life. The Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act (S.1670) protects the unborn in limiting abortions after 20 weeks of pregnancy, it is legislation that is vital in protecting the dignity of life.
Fiorina’s stance precisely aligns with that of Texas Right to Life. Our respect for the lives of pain-capable preborn children catalyzed successful legislation in 2013, which has ended abortions past 20 weeks here in Texas. We would be happy, after nearly eight years of anti-Life presidential activism, to see a leader in the White House who shared the same respect for the dignity of all human life.
