Dallas Morning News blatantly lies about availability of breast cancer screening in Waco

In an article earlier this year, Dallas Morning News author Brittney Martin attempts to address the topic of women’s health.  She states that a woman in Waco had no other option but to turn to Planned Parenthood when she was seeking a mammogram.  This breast exam ultimately led to a cancer diagnosis, prompting the woman Martin interviewed to describe Planned Parenthood as her “life line.”  While this provides a compelling story for supporters of Planned Parenthood, a closer look reveals that Martin’s story ignores the truth.

In fact, there are many non-abortion-committing facilities at which women can obtain breast exams in Waco under the Breast and Cervical Cancer Services program of the Department of State Health Services (DSHS).

Planned Parenthood has long relied on lies like the one spread by Martin to maintain a façade,  marketing abortuaries as premier medical facilities for breast cancer detection.  The story in the Dallas Morning News is not the first time mainstream media has been complicit in the business’ deceptive tactics.

In 2011, for example, Planned Parenthood president, Cecile Richards, appeared on national television professing the lie that Planned Parenthood provides mammograms.  More specifically, she said that thousands of women would lose access to mammograms if Planned Parenthood were defunded by taxpayers.  Watch for yourself:

Live Action investigated Richards’ dubious claim, calling Planned Parenthood locations all over the country.  The resounding answer to their calls?  Every single phone call revealed that Planned Parenthood does not provide mammograms.  Apparently, Obama didn’t get the memo, because a year later he stated on national television, once again, that Planned Parenthood provides mammograms.  Mammograms and Planned Parenthood?  Sounds more like a mammosham to us.

Do you notice that Planned Parenthood supporters have a habit of spreading these stories when the business is at risk of losing taxpayer dollars?  And when lies do not work, Planned Parenthood resorts to ruthless bullying, as we saw in the dramatic Susan G. Komen Foundation v. Planned Parenthood saga.

Martin’s insinuation that women in rural areas will be abandoned in the face of potential breast cancer is a scare tactic in Planned Parenthood’s effort to maintain the organization’s position.  To Pro-Lifers, Planned Parenthood’s goal is clear: profit from abortion while convincing the nation that the business is about anything but abortion.  After all, they created a wildly misleading method of counting their services just to give the illusion that abortion only comprises 3% of Planned Parenthood’s services.

Making matters worse, the Dallas Morning News article suggests that the breast screening received at Planned Parenthood was the catalyst for a cancer diagnosis.  In reality, Planned Parenthood only provides manual breast exams, which have no ability to diagnose breast cancer at all.  After the Waco woman in Martin’s story went to Planned Parenthood for her manual breast exam, she would have had to follow up with services elsewhere to receive a diagnosis.  Planned Parenthood is not equipped for mammograms or biopsies that are the next steps in cancer diagnosis.  The only thing Planned Parenthood is well-equipped to do is to kill our children in abortion.

Planned Parenthood—or any abortion business, for that matter—doesn’t deserve your hard-earned money.  When Pro-Lifers closed major funding streams to Planned Parenthood in 2011 by re-allocating tax dollars to more worthy causes, women were not harmed.  Just the opposite, in fact: there were plenty of health centers standing by to receive the patients who had once gone to Planned Parenthood for non-abortion services.  The change is highly beneficial to women, because a “health center” that kills a woman’s child cannot be said to provide health care.
