Vote YES on Proposition 15 to Secure Parental Rights in the Texas Constitution

Texans will vote on 17 proposed changes to the state Constitution on November 4, 2025. One of the most important is Proposition 15, which would officially protect parents’ rights in the Texas Constitution.

Right now, those rights aren’t clearly protected in the Constitution. Courts have recognized that parents have the right to raise and make decisions for their children, but since it’s only based on court rulings—not the Constitution—judges could change that in the future.

Proposition 15 would make it clear that parent are the main decision-makers for their children’s upbringing, education, and health care. It wouldn’t create new rights or take any away. It would simply protect the rights parents already have by putting them permanently into the Texas Constitution.

If passed, Proposition 15 would add a new section to the state Constitution stating that parents have the right to nurture, protect, and make decisions for their children. This would make sure that future judges or lawmakers can’t weaken or change those rights over time.

Texas Right to Life’s Patient Advocacy Team has seen firsthand how fragile parental rights can become in times of medical crisis. Families across Texas have faced heartbreaking battles when hospitals or physicians sought to withdraw life-sustaining treatment from children against their parents’ wishes.

Cases like Tinslee Lewis, Baby Legend, and Baby Wren reveal the immense pressure parents endure when their authority to protect their child is challenged. If Proposition 15 is adopted, parents and their attorneys will have stronger constitutional grounds to defend their right to continue care and fight for their child’s life.

By voting YES on Proposition 15, Texans can defend parents’ ability to make the best decisions for their children—free from interference by the government or institutions.

Early voting begins October 20 and runs through October 31.

When you go to the polls, vote YES on Proposition 15 to affirm that parents, not the government, know what’s best for their children.
