Nan Mundy, Pro-Life friend, dies

""On September 28, Pro-Life warrior Margaret Anne "Nan" Sullivan Mundy died.  She was one of the founding members of Texas Right to Life and worked tirelessly with both TRTL and Houston Birthright.  She served as Texas Right to Life’s treasurer and, in 2000, received TRTL’s Lifetime Service Award.

Nan was born in 1929 in St. Paul, Minnesota.  In 1951, she graduated from The College of St. Catherine in St. Paul.  From there, she moved to San Antonio to complete her internship as a medical technologist.  There she met her future husband, Linder “Lin” Griffith Mundy.  They were married in 1953.

Nan was a wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.  She cared deeply for those in need.  She helped countless unborn children through her work with TRTL and Birthright.  She also served in Houston’s poorest neighborhoods and taught her family to do the same.  She was a spiritual woman who continually stressed the importance of charity, the Church, a life of prayer, and the sacraments.  Her legacy was her love.

Nan relished her role as mother.  In her own words, “A mother is someone whose place in your life is particularly unique.  Her bond with you, long before you are ever aware of her person, is strong enough to ward off death even if it means her own.”

Texas Right to Life will greatly miss this Pro-Life champion and prays for her family and friends.  May her memory be eternal.
