Pro-Life Heroes Win Big in Texas GOP Primaries
Pro-Life Republicans came away with exciting wins after Tuesday’s election.
Overall, Texas Right to Life’s candidates won or made it to the tie-breaker runoff election in 86% of our races!
Here are some of our highlights and priority campaigns:
Statewide:
- 🏆 Governor Greg Abbott and Lieutenant Governor Dan Patrick both won the GOP nomination for their offices. Their leadership made a big difference last year, helping us crack down on abortion pills in the state Capitol.
- 🏆 Don Huffines will watch over Texas’ taxes and spending, making sure your money isn’t wasted or misused on abortion funding, if he’s elected as comptroller in November. Huffines says, “Not one dime of Texas taxpayer money should ever fund abortion…”
- 🔁 Mayes Middleton advanced to the runoff in the most important Pro-Life race in Texas! ⭐ Middleton is running for attorney general, the state’s top lawyer. He will defend our Pro-Life laws in court and go after criminals who mail abortion pills here. Texans will need to head to the polls again in May to vote for Middleton!
Congress:
- 🏆 Steve Toth unseated Dan Crenshaw in Montgomery County and parts of Harris County (Congressional District 2). Right now, a lot of Republicans in Washington don’t care about saving babies from abortion. Toth, however, wants America to do everything possible to end abortion.
- 🔁 Briscoe Cain is so close to winning a seat in Congress to protect the unborn. He’ll head to the tie-breaker runoff election in May against a candidate who suggested that abortion isn’t an important issue. (Harris and Liberty Counties, Congressional District 9)
- 🔁 Jace Yarbrough came just 1% shy of winning Tuesday’s election outright. Voters in North Texas (Congressional District 32) will decide this race in the May runoff. Yarbrough is a Pro-Life leader. When the government tried to force Christians to pay for abortions, Yarbrough took the fight to court.
- 🔁 Jon Bonck also earned Texas Right to Life PAC’s endorsement for Congress in Northwest Harris County (Congressional District 38) and is headed to the runoff.
Texas House:
- 🏆 Scott Bowen won the GOP nomination for a Texas House seat in the Clear Lake area (House District 129). Bowen will be a great state rep. because he is a Pro-Life leader, even behind the scenes. Over the last few years, he helped write and pass resolutions to save babies and support mothers, kept the GOP platform strong on Life issues, and urged Gov. Abbott to crack down on abortion pills.
- 🏆 Rep. Jeff Leach in Plano (House District 67) earned voters’ trust once again because of his Pro-Life leadership. He carried last year’s most important Pro-Life bill, saving babies from abortion pills.
- 🏆 Rep. Caroline Harris Davila in the Austin area (House District 52) won the GOP nomination for state rep.
- 🏆 Rep. Tom Oliverson, M.D., won the GOP nomination for state rep. in the Cypress area (House District 130).
- ❌ One of our biggest races in Tuesday’s election attempted to unseat Ken King, who killed a Pro-Life bill last year that would have saved babies from abortion pills. Republican John Browning ran against King and exposed his ugly record on Pro-Life issues. King barely won, but Tuesday’s results show that voters expect their lawmakers to stand up for the unborn.
Texas Senate:
- 🏆 Dennis Paul is a current Pro-Life state rep. running for an open seat in the state Senate (Senate District 11). Paul will face a Democrat in November to represent the Galveston area.
- 🏆 Senator Bryan Hughes of Senate District 1, won re-nomination without opposition and remains a steadfast defender of Life.
Local and Judicial Races:
- 🏆 Tiffany Nelson is a leader in education who believes our schools should be pro-family, pro-God, and Pro-Life. Her opponent, on the other hand, tried to take Pro-Life issues out of the state GOP platform. Nelson’s victory ensures that our state’s education will be shaped by Pro-Life values.
- 🔁 Alison Fox will head to the runoff for the Court of Criminal Appeals, Place 3 (statewide).
- 🔁 Orlando Sanchez also faces a runoff for Harris County Judge.

Texas Right to Life celebrates these victories and looks forward to winning big in the May runoffs and the November general election. Voters want lawmakers who courageously stand up against abortion, not sit on the sidelines.
